[GLENDRONACH] The Glendronach Original 12Y (글렌드로낙 12년)

셰리 위스키 3대장이라고 불리는 글렌드로낙입니다. 3대장 중 가장 마지막으로 먹는 위스키로.. 개인적으로 먹어보고 싶던 찰나에 와이프가 생일 선물로 사줬다. 맥캘란 12년 셰리의 맛을 잊지 못하는데 과연 드로낙은 어떤 느낌인지 기대되는 마음으로 마셨다. 그리고 비교적 저렴한 가격으로 구매한거 같다.

 

"Deep in the east Highland hills, The GlenDronach Distillery has been quickly perfeeting sherry wood maturation since 1826. Our founder, James Allardice, built this distillery in the fertile landscape of the Forgue valley and named it 'GlenDronach', which means 'valley of the brambles' in Scots Gaelie. Here, he discovered the rich depths of sherry wood maturation, marrying Scottish spirit to Spanish cask.

 

Little has changed over the centuries, our craftsmen use the same iron mash tun, wooden washbacks and saxophone copper pot stills as their forefathers did, Our signature expression, The GlenDronach 12 year Old, epitomises our unyielding dedication to the mastery of our craft. Matured in fine Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucia in Spain, this richly sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky presents smooth vanilla, soft fruits and a memorably long, nutty finish, for which it has become renowned."

Tasting Notes (오피셜)

Appearance :

• Deep amber-red gold.

Nose :

• Sweet, creamy vanilla, with hints of ginger and autumn fruits.

Palate :

• Rich, creamy, silky-smooth.
• Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, a full mouth feel, raisins, soft fruits.

Finish :

• Long, full and firm.
• Slightly nutty.

 

Tasting Notes (개인 테이스팅 노트)

Color :

• 조금 진한 호박색을 띄고 있다.

Aroma :

• 달콤한 향이 올라오고 꾸덕한 과일향이 난다.
• 오픈한지 얼마 안됐음에도 불구하고 알콜향이 별로 느껴지지 않는다.

Taste :

• 꾸덕한 느낌이 들고 달콤한 맛이 치고 들어온다. (맥켈란과 비슷한 느낌으로 아마 셰리의 느낌이겠지?)

Finish :

• 피니시는 긴 느낌이지만 알콜의 느낌은 아니고 약간의 떫은 느낌? 나무의 느낌은 아닌데.. 무튼 그런 느낌이다.

총평 : 오랜만에 맥캘란의 느낌을 맛 본거 같아서 기분이 좋다. 셰리는 확실히 셰리의 느낌이 있다는 느낌이 든다. 맥캘란을 들고 있지 않아 비교 시음은 어렵지만, 카발란 올로로소 셰리로 다시 비교해봐야겠다. 맥캘란에 비해 가격이 사악한 편은 아니라서 구매해서 마셔보길 권한다. (물론 와이프가 굉장히 저렴한 가격에 구하긴 했다.)
